I have a problem, just with Word, as eveything else RESPONDS!
Working in Word, when I type, delete, scroll, etc, every move takes an AGE (in computer terms). What IS wrong with my Word?
Absolutely everything else is as normal.
Also, how can I reset the original barra de menus (toolbar? menu Bar?)? Right now I have three separate ones (Standard, Format, and Revision I think, but all over the place. How can I reset it all?

Both these problems are really irritating, so I would really appreciate some advice and help (nothing complicated, you see how computer-friendly I am!). ▲ Collapse | | | Ralf Lemster Tyskland Local time: 21:38 Engelska till Tyska + ... An attempt... | May 13, 2002 |
...since it\'s really difficult to gauge your problem on a remote basis. Generally, it would be helpful to know which operating system (e.g. Windows 98 or Me) and which Word version you\'re using. Also, do you know how much RAM (memory) your system has?
One reason for Word to go slower than normal could be the size of the document; if you\'re looking at the page layout, Word may have to re-format the pagination every time. Try to switch to \"normal\" view.

If this doesn\'t solve the problem, I suggest you consult the dealer where you either bought the PC and/or got your MS Office license.
Regarding the toolbars: you can control which toolbars are displayed via the \"View\" / \"Toolbars\" menu (I hope these are the correct names - I\'m using a German version of Word). The exact positioning is simple - just drag and drop them wherever you want (click on the left border of the toolbar to \"grab\" it).
HTH - as I said, it\'s a bit tricky without more info.

I had a similar problem a couple of years ago; it turned out that I had hardly any RAM (memory) capability left...
Could this be the reason?
If yes, you can enhance your memory with a special tool for this (forgot the name right now - your dealer should know), or maybe it\'s time to simply buy a new PC
Good luck!

RAM is one thing and a video adapter (graphics card) is another.
If you have an old card (say, 2MB RAM), and your computer settings use maximum available colours, monitor resolution, etc. then (especially in scrolling) it takes forever for the _display_ to catch up with your mouse or arrow key. And if you have lots of tables or graphics in your document then it\'s easy to get frustrated. I\'ve been there!

WADR to previous posters, it\'s easy to recommend to go out and buy a new computer, but cash flow problems...
I would first ask a competent friend (or the dealer) to \"simplify\" your graphics settings and to throw out as many resident programs (that\'s something which is running on your computer, but you don\'t necessarily know about it) as you can - screen savers, office assistants, all these little icons next to the clock on the Start bar etc. Just leave your anti-virus running. It won\'t help drastically, but it will help.
(Incidentally, I had to switch from McAfee to Norton AV, because McAfee slowed down my computer too much. NAV is much better this way).
HTH and sorry for the long post.

There\'s a freeware called RAMBO, RAM booster which let\'s you monitor and manage the level of RAM used. I guess it is at www.download.com. Give it a try.
You can also right click on the toolbar and then check the toolbars you want to be displayed on screen.
I hope this helps. | | | Andy Watkinson Spanien Local time: 21:38 Medlem Katalanska till Engelska + ...
One thing which can slow down Word considerably is the option \"check grammar as you type (in Tools, Options, Spelling & Grammar\" - if it\'s enabled, try disabling it and see if that works.
