Hi there.
I'm having trouble trying to recover a large amount for translation work already delivered from a Chinese translation agency. Does anyone have experience with this at all? Do you know a good Chinese lawyer? Any tips?
Hoping for some assistance,

Did you get the unpaid work through Proz? I must say that Proz staff has been very helpful every time I have submitted a non-payment report (two or three cases), and I got paid in a few days. Send all the proof you have (emails exchanged and/or PO, etc.) with your non-payment report. Good luck!
P.S. I have never worked with Chinese agencies before. | | | Karin de Jong Australien Local time: 04:44 Medlem (2009) Engelska till Nederländska + ... TOPIC STARTER

@Maria
Not directly, I've been working with them for more than 2 years and never had problems, however, this one invoice is different. And of course, it's a massive invoice, including translation of more than 100,000 words. The agency is, however, an active Proz member, and I originally contacted them after they were looking for translators on Proz. Not sure whether I would qualify for help from Proz... | | | Blue Board and non-payment report | May 6 |
To report lack of payment in the Blue Board and submit a non-payment report (towards the end of the Blue Board entry procedure) do not require you to have found the client in any particular way.

I've only worked for a Chinese company once, and only for a short period, as it was too much trouble in many ways. I generally limit myself to European and North American clients, where Wise makes it easy to get paid without rip-off fees. ▲ Collapse | |

Thanks for that info, Thomas, sounds like it's an avenue I can take. I have sent them a letter of demand, and have given them 7 days to pay. After that, I will issue a non payment report with Proz. And if that doesn't work, I'm considering using a debt collection agency in China. The amount is too big to just let it go, unfortunately. | | | To report site rules violations or get help, contact a site moderator: You can also contact site staff by submitting a support request » Has anyone tried to recover unpaid invoices from a Chinese translation agency?
