Hello again,
Here is brief list of my findings
Most of the sites fall into 3 categories: CV, catalog and the business card and even though some of them are quite nice after viewing a a couple hundred of these it became clear that one has to create something different in order to get the viewers attention.
Here are some examples of sites that I liked. Most of these are EN/FR since that is my language pair and not because they are superior to other languages. If anything, the German sites seem to be the best.
Some of the sites included are bilingual agencies.
1. When designing sites try to use the latest technologies. There is an enormous difference in the visual appeal of sites.
2. Keep the textual content to the minimum, esp. on the main pages.
3. It is really nice to see content other than the CV, rates, type of material translated, credentials, references, etc...The sites that I liked usually contained something special, such as a comprehensive link directory, list of glossaries, white papers, cultural or linguistic information of the target languages, etc...
... for having pointed out those tips and sites. I am about to build my site too : I am a new translator and since it is quite difficult to get jobs without a large experience ... I hope it will help me.
Thanks again you made me save hours searching.
