Early in the morning Mar 8, 2011

The best time of day is around 7 - 9 in the morning, before the customers wake up and get to work. Unfortunately this now coincides with the time my children need breakfast, getting ready for school, etc. But it's still my most productive time when they're not here.

I voted early in the morning, but... Mar 8, 2011

I think it is fair to say that my early mornings may be considered mid-mornings to other translators. I consider this a blessing and a curse. A blessing, because I get to stay up at night rather late to watch my favorite TV programs, and a curse, because getting up before 9 o'clock is sometimes a bit difficult. But my most productive hours when I have an assignment are after I have dealt with all emails and fora, the first two hours of work get me though roughly 35% of the daily workload, and th... See more

But my most productive hours when I have an assignment are after I have dealt with all emails and fora, the first two hours of work get me though roughly 35% of the daily workload, and the remaining 4 to 5 hours are spend doing the remaining 65% of billable work. Marketing, admin and other work are done outside these hours if possible.Collapse

Better concentration in the morning Mar 8, 2011

I definitely feel that I can concentrate, and therefore probably work more efficiently, in the morning, though I would leave out the word "early"!

I don't know if it's my most productive time, however, in terms of how much I actually produce. Sometimes I have other commitments in the mornings and sometimes it takes me a while to actually get down to work if I don't have an urgent deadline. So a lot of my work gets done later in the day or in the evenings.

early morning Mar 8, 2011

I do most of my work between the hours of 7/8 and 1pm. After lunch is terrible... :-s
I also like to wake up around 4am to do some work, as there are no interruption from the kids (!), and I'm quite alert then, but when I do that, I'm brainless in the afternoon

Mid to late morning. Have picked up steam by then, and fatigue has yet to set in.

Early mornings and evenings Mar 8, 2011

I definitely work best in the early mornings and evenings - basically whenever there are less emails and calls to deal with.

Mid-afternoons are proving pretty useless at the moment.

I've seen it suggested before, but does anyone actually set a window of time specifically for replying to emails and not get back to everything (more or less) straight away?

5.30 - 7.30, when everybody is sleeping. coffee on the desk, breakfast and news, and after 10 minutes, go! I translate much better, usually when I check the work done in the morning, only small things need to be fixed, if any!

Being a night owl I am most productive at night.
It does help when everything and everybody around me is fairly quiet;
no phone calls, limited Skype activities - though that's when my friends
America are active and ready for a chat -pretty much aonly silence.

Greeting to all ProZians.

afternoon Mar 8, 2011

I guess because I don't have kids! I don't have to get up at dawn and don't have to deal with distractions. Which is great because I am not a morning person. I work best in afternoon and evening. I don't mind since I've always been a night owl.

"It varies" would have been a good option to add to this poll.

Early in the morning! Mar 8, 2011

I'm much more productive early in the morning between 6 and 8am, when everyone at home is still in bed!
