Separate from privacy issues, cloud computing -- despite its growing buzz and techno-glitz -- also poses some profound security concerns, which partly counts for the reluctance or guarded approach of a number of US Government and state-level agencies to embrace cloud computing.

A parallel concern is the basic matter of what happens when a power outage or system break-down interrupts access to the web.

Not just that. Some companies with highly sensitive data or stringent requirement for downtime avoidance mandate the actual physical locations of storage devices and media. Those must meet a number of requirements: fire, flood, eartquake resistance, physical security (guards and access control), recovery procedures re all of the above. I don't see how that can possibly be assured in a "cloud" environment.
