well, i had to explain to my students that Englsih just seems to be difficult Aug 18, 2003

I agree that Englsih is highly omographic and omophonic but think of Russian declinations and conjugations...

Why The English Language is Hard To Learn ?

1.There is no egg in an eggplant nor ham in a hamburger;

2. There is neither apple nor pine in pineapple.

3.If the plural of tooth is teeth, why isn't the plural of booth... beeth?

4. One goose, two geese. So one Canadian moose, 2 Canadian meese?

4.In what language do people recite at a play …..and play at a recital?

5.Ship by truck and send cargo by ship?

A phone call at the room service in a hotel.

Again, 10 minutes later.
- Too-tee-too-too. (Hangs up).
The room service girl calls her manager.
- Sir, someone is calling and saying "Too-tee-too-too" all the time. This must be a bad joke or something...
- Do not worry. These are Russians, they want two cups of tea to the room number two.
