The same error messages as above. I am using SDL Trados 2007 version and there in the program files / SDL International/2007/tt I was not able to find the mentioned .xml file. I tried to give it a different name, open again, no result. I tried to save .rtf and close, open again and save .doc file - no result. In some other discussion somebody adviced to save as .txt but I am not able to do that - is it dependent on the Trados and Word version.

Just wanted to report that the doc > rtf > doc solution worked for me when I received repeated 80005 errors in TagEditor.
I suspected that the problem was the size of the Word doc - 85 Mb!
I had no problem opening a new file which contained just the first 3 pages of the document.
The doc > rtf > doc method reduced the file size to just under 3 Mb. I could then open it, and I'm pretty sure that was the reason. (The file was a converted pdf through Acrobat.... In the opened window I found the Word_1_0_0_0 file and opened it with Notepad. And in this file I did what Wojciech Froelich advised:
"go to NonAcceptedOrRejectedChangesHandling section. Default setting is Default, which means StopConversion. Change Default to Ignore for this section, save the XML file (hope you did the backup first), re-open TagEditor and open Word file again".
This turned out to be the solution to my problem.
Hope that maybe it will help someone.

I just wanted to say that saving in RTF, close, open again and re-save in doc method worked for me! That is simpler than trying to find appropriate filter section. Every case shall be different, but I just wanted to thank you for those who suggested this method!

Hi people,
I'm sat here with a huge file to translate as I write and I'm experiencing this very problem...:(
However, what I don't understand is how do I save this file after editing it in notepad, as an.xml file again? I don't get the .xml option...

Hello GB,
simply press CTRL+S. The file should keep its original extension. If it doesn't, select "All files" from the "File Type" dropdown list and write the .xml extension manually behind the file name in the "File Name" field.

I work with SDL trados Synergy 8.3.161.0 - Windows seven/word 7
In my case all the previous solutions failed.
I decided to use Open office (a free text editor).
Open file « A » with open office save its as a microsoft word 97/2000/xp/ (.doc) with the name « A_op ».
Open « A_op » with word and save it as a docx.
Now you can translate it with the workbench or open it with the tageditor.

Although I am IT-savvy, I must admit I have wasted over an hour before I worked it out!
The problem:
