I am a self-employed translator working in the UK. Does anyone know whether it is possible to claim tax back on professional training courses, workshops, seminars etc., on self-development in general (obviously related to translating)?
Any help will be much appreciated.

If the courses, training, seminars etc. are relevant to your existing business, i.e. translation, you can put them down as expenses. However, if you decided to do a course in mechanics to become a mechanic, you couldn't put that down as expenses as it would be acquiring a new skill rather than expanding your existing knowlegde .
