Digital recorder with Dragon Preferred

Is anyone using a digital recorder to transcribe text with Dragon Preferred? Any advice on digital recorders and microphones? I'm told you need a good microphone with a digital recorder, that the incorporated ones aren't good enough to use with Dragon, and all the reviews I've seen of Dragon Mobile (that comes with a Phillips recorder) really pan it.

Thanks for any opinions or advice!
