Any experience with Translation Office 3000 5.0? Trådens avsändare: Daina Jauntirans

Hi,
I can't seem to find a way to search the forums for previous threads - didn't this used to be possible?
In any case, I was wondering whether anyone out there uses Translation Office 3000. I'm interested in hearing about the positives and negatives of this program. Any problems with support?

Hi Daina,
I can't seem to find a way to search the forums for previous threads - didn't this used to be possible?
Still is - just use the "Search" box on the left...
Thing is, you won't find a lot - the most recent thread is about a year old, and doesn't really offer much info...

From the point of the freelance translator, it is a great tool. It helps you keep track of new clients, how you have or will approach them, their payment terms, VAT-number, how much your turnover with that customer was.
If you buy their A-databases you will not have to search for agencies yourself.
Support is fine. Your questions will be answered swiftly and rapidly (within a day or two).
However, it is not a project and translator management tool. | | | Thanks, but... | Aug 18, 2003 |

Possible, but I doubt it. Start on the left, with your 'Member Info'. Underneath you should see the 'Community' subnavigation (Forums, GlossPost, ...), followed by a banner ad. The "Search" box is straight underneath that. Well, it is on my screen...
Let me know if you can see it - if you don't, contact me through my profile.

Thanks, Ralf, I found it. I'm still getting used to the new site, having been "out of commission" with a new baby for a while.
In any case, thanks also to Williamson for the opinion of the program. My concern is that I downloaded the test version (5.0) and it looks pretty good, but there is no help yet. It also took the company a long time to reply to some questions. I assume this is a one-man operation? If I end up using it, I'll post a review. | | | NancyLynn Kanada Local time: 11:17 Franska till Engelska + ... MODERATOR any update for us ? | Nov 4, 2003 |

First let me congratulate you on your little bundle of joy. You should be enjoying longer stretches of nap-time by now, at least I hope so. If not, sleep when the baby sleeps and hire some help with the housework !
Now back to Translation3000 - I'm ready to buy some sort of invoicing/accounting software. What was your experience ?

I looked at both Office 3000 and TOM quickly, but not enough to give an in-depth review.
One of them had a non-functioning help section, I think Office 3000. I would like that to be fixed before I pay real $$ for it. Took forever to get an answer to my initial questions, which was explained away as the rush around the new release. TOM didn't seem as clearly laid out as Office 3000.
The issue I still need to resolve is to find out which of these can handle my "dynamic"... See more I looked at both Office 3000 and TOM quickly, but not enough to give an in-depth review.

The issue I still need to resolve is to find out which of these can handle my "dynamic" billing requirements - some customers want source words, others target words, others target lines. Sometimes $ and sometimes EUR. Right now I estimate the amount that will land in my account to keep track and then fill in the actual $ amount when it arrives, and I'd like to keep doing that.
I didn't feel confident about buying either yet, so I'll look again when I have some free time, and do a proper trial. Anyway, I think I may be looking for the perfect program that doesn't exist - so I will probably just have to pick the closest one to what I want. ▲ Collapse | | | To report site rules violations or get help, contact a site moderator: You can also contact site staff by submitting a support request » Any experience with Translation Office 3000 5.0?
