The "contract" is very suspicious too and the data from Katelyn is false. So, yeah, scam. Stay safe

craftedfreelancers Scam Oct 7, 2024

Hi,

Thanks for helping me confirm that this is just one more scam for translators out there. I have received the same kind of email from the same person: katelynregan@craftedfreelancers. It seems it has been forwarded to everyone through TM TOWN.

Me too! An offer from craftedfreelancers through TM-Town - Movie script translation Oct 8, 2024

Thanks to all for sharing the info!

I received the same mail for the movie script translation. There were inconsistencies in the webpage and the address. Then, I asked for a contract, and she told me I was going to get it from the legal team.

Today, another woman sent me a mail from an account of “Noble Path Law Firm” with a contract. Her name was on the webpage, but something felt fake. Everything too weird.

I am thinking that if we let scammers know how thorough we, translators, are… that we do research as an essential part of our profession, they would get even better, and it will be worst for us.

Got the e-mail too Oct 8, 2024

I'm glad I checked this forum, I really did spend 2 hours translating 10 pages for this person. They even sent me a "contract" asking for my bank information and that's when I started to doubt. I guess when they offered such a high amount of money I just lost my mind since the rates I'm willing to work for are pretty low, that's really sad.
The address and the whole thing is all fake.

SCAM 100% [email protected] Oct 8, 2024

Hi there translators colleagues,

I recived the EXACT SAME email some people have received from MT Town and TranslationDirectory in different days, the second email only 2 days after "accepting" the project:

Dear Maria Avilla,

I trust this message finds you well. My name is Eva Jacqueline, and I am a Project Manager at CraftedFreelancers. We are pleased to present an exciting translation opportunity that aligns perfectly with your expertise.

We are seeking a professional translator to work on a specialized document from Portuguese Language to Spanish. The document is titled *"The Role of Agriculture in the Development of Least-Developed Countries and Their Integration into the World Economy,"* and it provides an in-depth analysis of the agricultural sector's importance to the economic growth of least-developed countries (LDCs) and their integration into global markets.

Project Overview:

- Document Title: The Role of Agriculture in the Development of Least-Developed Countries and Their Integration into the World Economy

- Total Length: 190 pages

- Word Count: 60,467 words

(...) - and the rest you already know.

I did some research and the PT>ES document (The Role of Agriculture...) was translated already (FAO), so yes, that was suspicious and that's why I started looking in LinkedIn, cos is true they have a website, and then I ended up here.

Thank you all! I am glad we are a strong community working together to avoid this type of situations, our time and profession deserves respect.

Have a nice day,
María

It doesn't matter. All they need are a handful (or even as little as 1 or 2 persons) who take the bait and they have already achieved their goal: easy money. Then they continue to repeat their attempts until they found another couple of naive souls. And so on and so on.

To me it's shocking how many translators are even considering these kind of requests, while you can smell the fishyness from miles away. E-mails like these should go straight to the bin, without even bothering to reply.

Scam offer from katelyn regan crafted frellancers Oct 8, 2024

Continuing with the topic... what I don't understand is what they gain from this type of scam... because they don't ask for money or anything, not even in the contract they send, so what is the benefit they get?

Same scam Oct 8, 2024

Hi everyone,

Thank you so much for your sharing this fraud. I also received this e-mail on Sunday asking for my translation to Spanish of a movie script, similarly to some of the previous posts. I also contribute with my experience in case this can help any other potential victims who are also having doubts about the amazing conditions of the offer.

Regards,

they do, if you read the "contract" they send, they ask for your bank details and your signature, among other information and details. Imagine what they can do with it. Do not trust this kind of posts. I asked this Katelyn for warranties and/or credentials and all she replied was to contact her if I had any doubts. no phone, no other person, no company, nothing.

Looks like a scam Oct 8, 2024

I got a similar offer from Eva Jacqueline. I progressed with interest and received a purchase order that looks all legit but, like others have mentioned, I think in the end they overpay you, etc. Red flags: Website created last month, 5 or 6 blog posts on the website written a few minutes after the other, published on the same day. No social media presence.

This was their second e-mail to me:
