I'm happy to announce that, based on recent member activity and feedback, some improvements have been made to the ProZ.com translation teams feature. The translation teams feature is designed to assist cooperative groups of language professionals in acting as a single entity, collaborating on projects, sharing resources, quoting on jobs, and more.
In the last week, the following improvements were made to this area:
- A new "Request to join this team" option was added to team overview pages so that any interested member can send team leaders a request to join their teams (instead of waiting for team leaders to invite them).
- The team files tool was improved to allow team members to upload many file types and specify different categories for their uploaded files. Entering notes on files is also possible now.
- The team language pairs view was improved so that only a few pairs show when the list is long and visitors can expand the section if they want to see more.
- A new "Post a private job to members of this team" option was enabled for team members and outsourcers so that members of a team can be invited to quote on specific jobs posted to them only.
- A new "View members of this team in the ProZ.com directory" option for filtering and simultaneous messaging was also added. This option is also available on team overview pages to both team members and team visitors, and allows anyone to see in the directory of freelancers a list of team members, filter them as needed and contact them directly and simultaneously.
- Now there is also an option to "Leave translator feedback" (WWA) directly for each team member from the list of team members.
- And last, but not least, e-mail notifications have also been improved.
You will find more information about translation teams and on how these improvements work exactly in the site FAQs section (also updated!).
A new article on Using ProZ.com translation teams is now also available.
Please feel free to post below if you have any questions or comments about these improvements.
Thanks,

What does "e-mail notifications have also been improved" mean?
There was a problem where all team members, regardless of their working language pairs got notification emails about ANY KudoZ question posted for the team. Is that fixed now? | | | Thank you for a new source of spam | Jul 27, 2013 |

Visibility options will be added for the "Request to join this team" option and KudoZ notifications filters will be fixed.

I just want to let you all know that team leaders can now set visibility permissions for the "Request to join this team" option. Hence, you can allow anyone to send a request to join, no one, site members only or members of the Certified PRO Network only. You can set this preference from under the "Edit team" tab.
As for KudoZ e-mail notifications, now only those team members matching a KudoZ question's criteria will be notified via e-mail.

Please let me know how everything goes if you happen to test these adjustments. Thanks!
