I leave it there without futher explanation. I was wondering the other night about how quick-witted Dr. Rich was, and oh how I envy the person who has the right answer for e v e r y t h i n g, but I assume, he is a wiser person, not having a bad day (how poor the imagination, sorry) has lived more, therefore has all the answers... Most of them anyway! Well then please be patient with others, you must be able to let people make mistakes, approach as they may. Why should there be a rule, unless you want it to be broken, as it will, regardless. I was thinking (yet again) about the people posting questions, expecting to listen to a professional, someone who has been there, translated that specific term, unable to find it elsewhere... And yet here I am, thinking, questioning, searching and yes...trying to help the helpless! Sometimes I try to refrain myself, but I can\'t help it, oh I just love to let the imagination go forward and start the brainstorming. Incursionar... Not only the teachers have things to teach! SUGGESTION:
To start with - I believe that Proz should make two English entries, at least - US English and British English (Even Word has 9 different English spellings!)
I have at my desk an American English>British English Dictionary and vv. - 220 pages.

Same applies to Brazilian and European Portuguese - I am having a lot of misunderstandings with my Iberian \"brothers\". Word also lists 2 kinds of Portuguese. These are not dialects but same language.
It might help to cut the \"bull shot\" by half.

Ailish once said something about this. While a non-native may never speak another language as well as his own, he READS his own language better than anybody from the outside. Since a translator is usually a person on the outside looking in, he can always use help from native understanding (even when this person does not speak his own language as a native).

I personally know some who, with two or more degrees on the wall, are lightyears away from ever being able to produce something we\'d call a translation, no matter if such product is in another language.
