Dear colleagues,
I have been invited to present an event held by "Friends of Nepal" in my city.
I would like at least to salute the assistants with a short but nice Nepali greeting.
I cannot find the English-Nepali thread. This is why I'm posting this under Linguistics...
Can anyone tell me how I could say, for instance. "Hello and welcome" or something similar? I'm just trying to be kind to them.

I'm just recently back from North-East India, including some time in the Darjeeling, Kalimpong areas where Nepali is widely spoken and am ashamed to say I didn't pick up that much. In my defence, you come across so many languages travelling around that area, it's difficult to know which one you should try and learn. I do remember, however that "thank you very much" is "deri deri danyivat" (just my phonetic transcription. Might come in handy!
