Touch pad stopped working

Suddenly the led of my touchpad is on and the device does not react to touch. HP laptop. According to control panel device is working properly. What can I do? Last evening all was ok.

Upgrade waiting in the background? Jun 27, 2012

I am working on an HP, too, and an automatic upgrade for whatever touch pad upgrade was idling in the background a few days ago. I don't know if you leave your machines on night and day (I do, they run permanently), but give a restart, or better: a full shut-down a try.

I wonder if there could be a function key for the touch tab? Fortunately I got a mouse, so I can manage for a while, but I cannot work in my favorite position sitting in the front seat of our car (while at the summer cottage).

Hit the function key (FN) + the appropriate combination, most likely F12. This will enable/disable your touch pad.

Double tapping on the LED always works, have a HP laptop as well.
