Some of my clients are working with a new accounting system this year and it's a disaster. They keep asking me to change details like dates on invoices already issued and are obliged to ask for estimates for work that is difficult to quantify in advance....

Administrative work is the most difficult task for me.

Different clients, mostly small to medium size jobs, i.e, many jobs to bill, different billing procedures for each client: this combination means a lot of work that I would rather not have to do...

Nowadays, I fortunately have a solid client base because what I find most difficult is client hunting: most of my long-standing customers and new clients have come to me and not the other way around…

The hardest bit for me is not knowing how much I’ll be earning from one year to the next. Up 10-15% is great, down is not so good (and saving is easier said than done).

Not difficult, but tiring: payments. Nov 16, 2018

I am glad to work for one single client nowadays, which makes my life so much easier. But when I started out I had trouble keeping track of POs, late payments, etc., too many clients, too many projects!

It's not something I do very often, and I always use the same non-aggressive methods. I have a decent client portfolio, thankfully, but I would have a hard time starting all over.
