I left my hometown 10 years ago...
I don't know if I miss it, the only problem is that I feel at home NOWHERE, I mean, there are places where I feel ok, but even my hometown is not home anymore, I do not know about shops, and other things that have changed in 10 years...
But I like living in different places, my friends are getting worried because I have lived for 5 years in the same place now, and they are waiting for news about the new destination! (average time in the same place

Left when I was 1, never went back! Nov 10, 2009

my dad was in the army, and we moved every other year. I went to more than 10 different schools... And as if this wasn't enough, my family and I still like to move city / country fairly often, so I don't feel like I have a hometown at all... and I don't really miss it, it's nice to discover new places ... and working freelance really helps!

I never lived there Nov 10, 2009

I was born in a hospital in Minnesota across the river from the little town in North Dakota where I also only lived for 5 weeks before my parents moved on. To my knowledge, I've never been back to either place. I lack a hometown for the same reasons as Anne Carnot (Navy in my dad's case).
I never missed having a hometown either – until I understood what it was by bringing up my sons in the same place (22 years and counting). Now I think the phenomenon of a "rootless" upbringing should r

I left when I was 5 Nov 10, 2009

Anne: Wow!

I left the UK when I was 5, and only went back to live there for a few months in 2007 (then came back to Spain). The rest of my life I have been moving around inside Spain, south to north, north to south. I actually consider the south more my home than the UK because it is where I grew up!

Left Ireland for Spain over 20 years ago Nov 10, 2009

... and never looked back.

When people ask me if I would ever move back to Ireland, I say "Yes, when they put a roof on it"

Left to go to college Nov 10, 2009

Lived several places since, but where I live now is home.
It's where my daughter was born, when some of my friends live, and it's where the computer is.

The town I was born in was on the map around 2000 years before I turned up and I guess it'll still be there 2000 years after I've gone. Colchester (Essex, UK) doesn't need me. I don't need Colchester. I left when I was 11 and have been back only very occasionally - usually to bury distant relatives.

Last time I was there I might as well have been in Timbuktu; indeed, I'd have preferred to be in Timbuktu and have a better reason to lose my bearings than the fact that they've knock

Home is where you are...
