Central Leeds is easy for me to get to by train and I would like to meet up with other translators, without the hassle of a long journey. I have lots of questions to ask about breaking in to paid translation work , Trados etc. Any plans for a pow-wow in Leeds? | | | Mary Worby United Kingdom Local time: 11:47 German to English + ...
I went to one back in 2003 in Germany. I live in the UK so it wasn't really for convenience of location, just seemed like a good idea at the time. And I suspect there's little call for a Newbury powwow! | | | one held locally | Jul 5, 2009 |
I went to one right here in Padua. It's not so easy to attend ones more than a couple of hours from home. Maybe the two previous posters can manage to get to the one to be held in Nottingham in August! | |

One in Bruges, one in Brussels, one in Düsseldorf and one I organised myself in Brussels. The Düsseldorfer PW is a yearly successful event. | | | lillkakan Local time: 12:47 English to Swedish
The reason I work as a freelancer, alone and from home, is I'm not a people person. I'm not an event person. I'm not a social person what so ever. And I'm perfectly ok with that. | | | Mary Worby United Kingdom Local time: 11:47 German to English + ...

Alas August is the school holidays, so unless a three year old and a five year old could make a valuable contribution, I'd have to count myself out! | | | Paul Dixon Brazil Local time: 07:47 Portuguese to English + ...
I am a regular PowWow attendee and organiser, I have organised PowWows in my home town of São Paulo, in Guarulhos (Greater São Paulo) and my latest one in Vale do Paraíba in the pretty town of Lorena (3 hours away by bus). My attended PowWows are in São Paulo, Campinas (1 hour by bus), São Vicente (1 1/2 hours by bus) and Indaiatuba (1 hour by bus). My personal opinion is that you should definitely get to a PowWow even if organising one is not your cup of tea. It's a great oppo... See more I am a regular PowWow attendee and organiser, I have organised PowWows in my home town of São Paulo, in Guarulhos (Greater São Paulo) and my latest one in Vale do Paraíba in the pretty town of Lorena (3 hours away by bus). My attended PowWows are in São Paulo, Campinas (1 hour by bus), São Vicente (1 1/2 hours by bus) and Indaiatuba (1 hour by bus). My personal opinion is that you should definitely get to a PowWow even if organising one is not your cup of tea. It's a great opportunity to meet other translators and do some networking. Venues of PowWows here have included steak houses, Italian restaurants, pizzerias, sea food restaurants overlooking the bay, on the affluent São Vicente island of Ilha Porchat, snack bars, general "eat by weight" restaurants and even a translator's home - on the terrace of the 23rd floor of an apartment building with a spectacular view of the Big Smoke (São Paulo, that is). In all cases but one (not the one at the translator's home, I hasten to add) the food was great. For anyone dropping by this neck of the woods in August there is a PowWow right after the Brazil Regional Conference. Welcome! Bienvenidos! Willkommen! Benvenuti! Bienvenues! (Further information on the PowWow at http://www.proz.com/powwow/2729 and on the Conference at http://www.proz.com/conference/77) ▲ Collapse | | | To report site rules violations or get help, contact a site moderator: You can also contact site staff by submitting a support request » Poll: How many ProZ.com powwows have you attended?
