not exactly a family event May 6, 2007

Well, "Sziget" is not really meant for families... although we spent half a day there last year with the little ones (then 5 months and 3 years olds).

If you are based in Salföld, an excellent family event is the Kapolcs festival, usually held in the last week of July. Kapolcs is between Tapolca and Veszprém. Lots of activities for kids as well, although the place gets really crowded on the weekend.

start planning your trips Jun 29, 2007

Dear All,

I do not really plan to do any actual "organizing" for this meeting.

If you are interested to meet up during this great music festival, please arrange your own flight, accommodation and entrance tickets.

Daily tickets are available at an early bird rate until July 15th.

For the "powwow", I proposed August 11th, but we can meet almost any time during the festival (August 8th to 14th).

As for accommodation, it's good idea

As for accommodation, it's good idea to book ahead, as this is the busiest period in tourism.

If you have more time to spend in Hungary, it's a good idea to extend your stay until the 20th, our most important and spectacular national holiday, when lots of interesting activities take place.

For all Sziget-related info, please check out their website: www.sziget.hu

Starting August 16th, there will be a unique exhibition on the life achievements of Leonardo (not di Caprio, but the other one) in Debrecen, some 200 kms East of Budapest. Just to give you an idea how to spend the time between Sziget and the national holiday.

I am coming Aug 2, 2007

I'll be there on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Saturday sounds like the best day to meet, but we can also make it any other day. What's the best way to organize? Exchange our phone numbers?

Weekend Aug 2, 2007

Most probably I'll be there only at the weekend. I guess Saturday or Sunday would be the best time to meet.

Meeting up Aug 8, 2007

Hello everyone,

Sziget officially starts today, so it's high time to make concrete plans to meet up. Vladimir will be here Thu-Fri-Sat, I plan to be on the island Thu and Sat, and maybe also on Friday.
Anyone else around?

Drop me a private message with your cell phone number if you intend to come.

And a practical hint: try to avoid approaching the island with HÉV (suburban train) - the lines from the HÉV station to the bridge are enormous. A much
