I lived in Israel for six years. From 2008 to 2010 I served
in the Israeli Defense Forces all in Hebrew. While living in Israel I studied
Creative Writing in Hebrew at Minshar Institute of Art in Tel Aviv. During
those studies I excelled in my linguistics courses as languages come easily to
me. Following my military service I lived in Israel as a civilian for four
years, each day living in Hebrew.
In 2015, I moved back to the US. In 2016 and 2017 I worked
at the Consulate General of Israel to the Midwest as the Director of Cultural
Affairs. There I worked every day in English and in Hebrew going back and
forth, often translating or analyzing language. While at the Consulate I
excelled in my position acquiring unprecedented accomplishments for the office.
I was offered to be sent to diplomatic training and I was told I
would need to complete my BA in order to begin the course. Inspired by this
opportunity, I took the initiative to go back and finish my BA. In December
2018 I’ll receive my bachelor’s degree from Roosevelt University in Chicago,
IL.
The Hebrew language is a central passion of mine and even
while living in the US I study it still every day. By reading the news,
watching video publications and speaking with local Israelis I keep my Hebrew
up to par. Working in language analysis in Hebrew is a very exciting
opportunity for me and I’m confident I’ll excel in such a capacity.
