Context: "Un lieu dédié à la découverte des étapes majeures des civilisations méditerranéennes, traitant de thématiques aussi marquantes que l’invention des dieux, les trésors de la route des épices, les visions de Jérusalem, le banquet des citoyens ou le **cabinet des sept merveilles du monde**." Where does the idea of a cabinet come into it, please? Any help gratefully received!

: This is what it means in my opinion, but I would not translate "cabinet" here because it's part of a list of themes the museum would cover - the "cabinet de" is redundant.

Normalement on parle de "cabinets de curiosités" ou "chambres de merveilles » (il y a un regain d'intérêt dans les musées) mais je n'ai jamais entendu parler d'un "cabinet des sept merveilles du monde" (ces merveilles n'ayant pas le format rquis pour entrer dans un cabinet). Le "cabinet" n'est toutefois pas une vitrine, mais peut être une pièce entière (voir photo wikidepdia). Je suppose qu'il s'agit d'une interprétation personnelle de l'auteur avec un renvoi à la tradition des "cabinets of wonders"
