In Russia people just started to be paid through direct deposit to their accounts. Up until I would say 2005, they all were paid in cash. I know that, because my parents and relatives live in Russian regions. Large cities like Moscow, S.-Petersburg might be an exception, but I am not sure, if the new terminology for that even exists in the Russian language. I would just explain in several words (as a footnote) what it means for the Western countries, namely the payroll software is set up for the direct deposit at the payroll department.
