..they dont appear to be a 'freestainding' chimney, but is there a specific technical term for this type? (not my field)
thanks

guyed
Not my field either, but 'guyed chimney' may be an option. I'm not certain of the exact differences between a stayed chimney and a guyed chimney. A quick google reveals this:
-> "Self-supporting (or stayed) chimney
Chimneys on which the wind load may be compensated by a connection to a support allowing free expansion of the chimney (Unified Technical Document (DTU) 24.1)."
-> "Guyed chimney
Chimney fitted with guys to make it totally stable."
Both from: http://www.beirens.fr/uk/glossaire.asp

: 'Stayed' apparently means that the chimney is secured by other means than a 'tui' construction. Please see my reference comment.
