Dutch term

Installatietechniek

Dutch to English Other Certificates, Diplomas, Licenses, CVs
Also from Dutch certificate - see previous question. Problem here is that Installatietechniek is a trade that is not recognised as one trade in English but consists of aspects of several different trades . So how to best translate it?
Votes to reclassify question as PRO/non-PRO:

Non-PRO (1): Buck

When entering new questions, KudoZ askers are given an opportunity* to classify the difficulty of their questions as 'easy' or 'pro'. If you feel a question marked 'easy' should actually be marked 'pro', and if you have earned more than 20 KudoZ points, you can click the "Vote PRO" button to recommend that change.

How to tell the difference between "easy" and "pro" questions:

An easy question is one that any bilingual person would be able to answer correctly. (Or in the case of monolingual questions, an easy question is one that any native speaker of the language would be able to answer correctly.)

A pro question is anything else... in other words, any question that requires knowledge or skills that are specialized (even slightly).

Another way to think of the difficulty levels is this: an easy question is one that deals with everyday conversation. A pro question is anything else.

When deciding between easy and pro, err on the side of pro. Most questions will be pro.

* Note: non-member askers are not given the option of entering 'pro' questions; the only way for their questions to be classified as 'pro' is for a ProZ.com member or members to re-classify it.

Discussion

Tineke Van Beukering (asker) Feb 24, 2009:
subjects on cijferlijst Thanks Chris. The cijferlijst states 3 subjects: aanleggen installatieleidingen/gasbinnenleidingen & aansluiten huishoudelijke toestellen. In discussions with the client he's told me more about the plumbing & gasfitting.

But: because 'installatiemonteur' can mean different things and does not necessarily specify in itself that it's about gasfitting etc here, I am reluctant to translate it as such. It would be adding extra information to the certificate in my opinion.
Chris Hopley Feb 24, 2009:
Is the certificate not accompanied by a transcript (cijferlijst) that details the specific subjects covered (e.g. installation of domestic gas appliances)?
Marijke Singer Feb 24, 2009:
gas and plumbing certification I would use something like the above following Chris' reasoning.

installation technology

sounds good, doesn't it? Fits the Kluwer PTW.
Note from asker:
Thanks Henk! What's the Kluwer PTW? ) I know Kluwer of course, but wat does PTW stand for?

4 KudoZ points awarded for this answer. Comment: "Thanks again!"

Installation technical staff

I think the term "technical staff" would be much more in the broader sense. The person could be from the computer industry, a mechanic (automobiles), electricity, etc.
Peer comment(s):

neutral jarry (X) : The question is about "techniek", not 'staff'!

electrical and mechanical engineering

BUT that depends on the context. Also possible: 'building services', as in 'building services consultant'. Again from Van den End's Property Lexicon (online version)
Note from asker:
installatietechniek can have to do with electricals (installatiemonteur can be an electrical contractor) but that's not the case here.

thx, jarry
neutral Chris Hopley : this doesn't seem to tally entirely with the previous question mentioned by Asker, which specifically refers to gas and plumbing

duly noted, Chris; hence my confidence level + note starting with 'BUT...'
