English term

That would have to involve a very bad case of suppressed memory on my part.

English to French Art/Literary General / Conversation / Greetings / Letters Movie script
Hey! Can't find a funny translation for what comes next.
This is a conversation between a smart/cynical 35 years old Alpha male and a 20 years old obnoxious spoiled-little-rich-girl that he is body-guarding, basically. They've met no so long ago.
She says : I have a feeling I know you from somewhere.
He replies : "That would have to involve a very bad case of suppressed memory on my part. Which, considering the fact how much you’re getting on my nerves, may be entirely plausible."
Many many thanks!

Discussion

Tony M Sep 24, 2010:
He means: "Well, even if you remember me, I certainly don't remember you — which means I must have made a deliberate effort to forget you" Of course, he does remember her, but is trying to tell her that he would have preferred to have forgotten her...

Note from asker:
Merci merci merci, cela marche pile poil! Merci encore.
Peer comment(s):

neutral Tony M : But I don't think there's anything of 'tendance' about it: the person is saying: "I'd really have had to deliberately try and forget about you"

neutral Tony M : It's not really 'risque de...', but simply 'impliquerait'

tongue in cheek

Merci merci.
