Hi there!
I asked this as an English monolingual question a couple of days ago, but according to my partner - a Spanish doctor - the answers provided don't adequately reflect the Spanish term: http://www.proz.com/kudoz/1416946
I have found a literal rendering in KudoZ glossaries ("constitutional syndrome"), but I remain unconvinced since it seems to be used mainly by Spanish or non-English speaking authors (I did find a couple of "anglo" references, but this seems a very poor result for what seems a relatively common Spanish term).
Additionally, in case it helps, I found a translated article where "s.const." had been used in the original and which does use a couple of non-literal expressions, as follows:
"...the patient was admitted in a poor health condition due to disseminated disease" and
"...the patient was in good health, without sympoms of widespread disease"

Paciente de mediana edad que presenta un cuadro de distensión abdominal, síndrome constitucional, vómitos en pozo de café y melenas, asociados a una tumoración quística gigante de ovario que le impide caminar. El retraso en la consulta médica y la naturaleza mucinosa del tumor hacen que las dimensiones del quiste sean gigantescas, con producción masiva de líquido (moco) que origina una situación de postración e inmovilidad absoluta, con grave desorden hidro-electrolítico que le condujo a la muerte.

Comment: "Thanks to all of you for your time. David, your suggestion was excellent, although not completely applicable in this case. I eventually found that it is quite common to refer simply to "constitutional symptoms", no mention of "syndrome" and that it is often best described by stating the actual symptoms itself: weight loss, weakness and anorexia. That's how I'll enter it into the glossary for future ref.
