A bleeder resistor is a resistor placed in parallel with a high-voltage supply for the purposes of discharging the energy stored in the power source's filter capacitors or other components that store electrical energy when the equipment is turned off.

Російські технічні словники дають переважно "нагрузочный стабилизирующий резистор", що нічим не краще, а лиш громіздке. Між тим суть слова "bleeder" якраз найкраще передається українським "розрядний елемент", тобто елемент (резистор), по якому спокійно й своєчасно "стікає в землю" зайвий електричний заряд.
