If you want to give me disagrees all the time, just do it and say "cos it's you", otherwise everyone gets confused and instead of helping the asker, you just risk confusing him/her further

could also be "calage au mortier" French makes a subtle distinction between "mortier de calage" and "mortier de scellement" (see references in my answer), I suggested"scellé" because this is the most common term (grouting around a part to be maintained), "calage" should be for grouting between the ground and the base plate (ie to support mainly vertical forces)
IMO the main purpose at bottom of columns is absorbing forces, not sealing that could suggest "jointoyé", although grout may be used for both

@BD Finch Okay, I've taken note of your objection but the English speaks of grout, NOT "silicon seal". I note too that Didier has used the word "mortier" and as I said later, grout is a type of mortar. I just don't see where you got "silicon seal" from?
