Swedish term

En Sades Örk

Swedish to English Social Sciences History
In the 1848 estate inventory of Jöns Jonsson from Humselynga, Abild Parish, Sweden, there is a section for "Trädvaror," which includes: "En Kista ... En Drick Tunna, En Sades Örk, En Soffa, Ett Bord, 2 Skåp." Everything is clear to me...except for the "Sades Örk." The handwriting is quite clear, but I can't find any such words in all of the dictionaries I've been able to check.

grain storage bin

grain box, grain chest
this is in SAOB under sädesörk, defined as kista för förvaring av tröskad säd
also called binge I think
Note from asker:
Thank you! Not sure why I didn't think of looking for it as a compound word instead of two words.

Trunk

Here's some research. A search for 'Örk' confirmed this is an indoor thing:

https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/örk -- but, well, it's Icelandic, curious.

I searched 'grain trunk' (googled) and got a lot of interesting pics. Here's one...

Grain chest

I have one, inherited from grandparents at least. We call it the old oak chest.
Chest may be more the north of England term as opposed to trunk which I see as a large box for belongings when travelling. See ref where the word 'kist' is also used, no doubt a transfer from Scandinavia.
