doomed or idealized Explanation: Hello! This question is very interesting. I suggested “doomed” or something like “doomed from the start”, but I think “demonized” works perfectly. I also understand your discomfort with “unfairly blamed”, which although it is also appropriate, ignores the part about the ecological transition not falling into the trap of being seen as the “savior,” which is why I suggested “idealized,” as it conveys this feeling of naivety as opposed to the “bad” perspective of “demonisée”. Other interesting terms that might also fit are: “seen as the villain” for “diabolisée” and “a utopian solutionism” or “under a spell” for “enchantée”. Hope it helps! |

demonis/zed or romanticis/zed (glamouris/zed) Explanation: glamouris/zed, as per the pre-existing Wiki entry, though arguably romanticised better fits a transitional phase. I wonder whether the ecology subject and/or the asker has a (past) Greenland connection. Reference: http://www.wikiwords.org/dictionary/term/690704/1342522 |

disillusioned or contented Explanation: It's about perceptions on the economy, social and political institutions. Opposite possibilities are presented as we can find ourselves dismayed if we're overwhelmed with distrust, fear or discontent, while on the other side we can be happily pleased or even delighted if we find institutions to be in our favour. Two other opposite terms lead to polarization of how an individual might feel after voting in favour of a politician, a political group or an American president: disillusionment compared with contentment. After U.S. presidential elections people could find themselves contented with the systems or unsatisfied and dismayed with a system of health care for example.
