I prefer the Cambridge Dictionary one a small piece of paper, metal, etc. that is attached to something larger and is used for giving information, fastening, opening, etc.:
Make a file folder for these documents and write "finance" on the tab.
Insert Tab A into Slot A and glue, before standing the model upright.

The second example is very close to your context.

Manipulate is to be able to handle or control. In this case you can grab the tab and move in the desired direction.
