A window placed in a projection of an exterior wall of a building is called an oriel window when the wall projection does not extend all the way to the foundation.

किसी भवन की बाहरी दीवार में प्रक्षेपित छोटी खिड़की को गवाक्ष या झरोखा कहते हैं। गवाक्ष या झरोखा लम्बा, अनेक कोणों वाला एवं छिद्रयुक्त होता है। प्रायः यह जालीदार होता है।
