French term

houppe placentaire

French to English Medical Medical (general) Tests carried out in an analysis laboratory in relation to viruses affecting animals
This document describes the tests carried out in a laboratory testing for diseases such as swine flu and brucellosis. This term appears in a description of a swab taken as part of a test:
"Ecouvillon cervico-vaginal ou de houppe placentaire"
I can only find "houppe" used in relation to "numb chin syndrome" but can't see how this can apply here.
Any help gratefully received.
