Japanese term

分かっちゃったリなんかしちゃったりなんかしちゃったりする

Non-PRO Japanese to English Art/Literary Cinema, Film, TV, Drama
Dear ProZ members,

could you please clarify to me a couple of things in the following sentence?

In a cartoon, a pilot is having a problem on her plane and she doesn't know what to do about it. So she thinks:

前のパイロットなら分かっちゃったリなんかしちゃったりなんかしちゃったりするのだろうか

1) I suppose it's structured in that redundant way in order to achieve a comical effect, right?

2) Putting the structure aside, does the whole sentence mean "I wonder if the previous pilot would understand"? Those なんかしちゃったり are confusing me.

Thank you very much!

Maybe the previous pilot would know what to do

You tend to come across interesting phrases. You are right about 1. I also think that she is trying to avert accusations by wordy, lengthy expression.
2. The supposed answer to this rhetorical question is on the affirmative (she doesn't know what to do but the previous pilot must know it.) so I think she is more than just "wondering." It is essentially saying, 前のパイロットなら分っちゃうんだろうな。

agree Angela Howell : I would translate the same way as Yuki-san.
