| Description: | Keeping up with the medical terminology is important for both translators and interpreters who want toimprove their knowledge and extend their skills. Besides introducing some commonly confused terms and expressions related to medical conditions, medications, anatomical terms, and much more, this presentation will focus on polysemous terms (a single term with having multiple meanings), false cognates, acronyms and register (in linguistics, a register is a variety of a language used for a particular purpose or in a particular social setting, such as when the doctor is speaking to their peers X speaking to a patient), that can be complex even for the most experienced translators/interpreters who work with medical texts. |
