I interpret "long and intense job" as meaning a project that stretches out over more than one week, so for me the best way to relax has to be a trip to an art gallery to completely detox and put my mind back in tune.
Engage in a passionate poolside threesome with the neighbours. Well, honestly. It could be anything. Sport, sex, sleep, culture, holiday, whatever.
gym/swimming playing guitar reading a book listening to music (sit in my armchair and enjoy the music) going out

On completing an arduous job, I love to get out in the sun (we've had wonderful weather here lately) and tend to my neglected garden or just sit there, breathe, watch the birds and so on.
That's what I do. It feels great to completely relax after a period of heavy-duty work.
Nothing beats sinking into a hot bubble bath, but it depends on my mood (and how hard and long the job was). Sometimes I just read a newspaper or a magazine, others I watch TV or listen to music. There is nothing better than going out for a walk when the weather allows, of course. Otherwise a cup of tea or a good meal in a cool coffee shop with one or two friends. No TV or movies, eyes would be tired!

I am surprise that 1.3% think that starting another project is the best way to relax. It would be interesting to hear from one of them.

I think maybe that they are meaning that the change does them good, i.e. shifting from a project that has been long and intense to one that is more more straight forward and enjoyable. I guess they must really love their job to such an extent that they don't have time to develop any hobbies. Whilst I am not like that myself, I can understand it as I have a family member who is exactly like that.

Lie down and relax | Jul 17, 2018 |
Personally, after a long tough day at work I would get myself a takeway on the way home as I would probably not feel like cooking anything. Then I would sprawl on the bed in front of the TV, wolf down the food I bought while enjoying binge watching my fave TV shows or I would just eat it and grab a book hoping not to fall asleep on the first page. I find that mere changing activity or languages often helps to refresh my endurance. Sometimes even drinking tea/coffee or listening to the music while translating makes difference. Why, I just opened the windows to air the room and feel much better after another 1000TU)
