I have practiced as a certified translator since 1991. In 1995, I completed my translation certificate at Collège universitaire de Saint-Boniface, Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. I am a member in good standing of the Society of Translators and Interpreters of British Columbia. I founded my translation practice in 1998. During my career, I have translated so far over 10 million words! -- roughly 33,000 letter-size pages. Under contract with the Translation Bureau of Canada, I have translated documents for Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada, the Canadian Grain Commission and the Canadian International Grains Institute. From 1995 until 1998, I was an in-house senior translator for a large grain marketing agency, then in later years I became their external translation service provider. Other high-profile customers are the Canadian Animal Health Coalition, the Canadian Sheep Federation, the Canadian National Goat Federation, Soy Canada and World Vision International.

Having translated grain market analysis reports, I am well versed in the terminology and phrasing of this specialty.

The highlight of my career was to work for three committees of the UN's Codex Alimentarius. Codex was founded by the FAO and WHO to ensure consumer protection and fair and ethical practice in international food trade. My work consisted in translating on site at conferences held in the five continents annually in order to publish progress reports toward the adoption of international food standards.

I have bolstered my paralegal experience translating refugee cases for the Immigration and Refugee Board of Canada, also through the Translation Bureau.

Prior to becoming a translator, I studied agriculture in France and then worked in this industry for 13 years in Canada. Agriculture being a field that encompasses multiple subjects (biology, botany, agro-forestry, soil science, economics, mechanical engineering, food safety, rural sociology), this previous experience enables me to translate material in several specialized fields.
