Education and Acquired Skills


I did my studies up to pre-graduation in India in English medium. Thus till my 18th year my mode of communication was English at school and Telugu out side. English was my first language and Telugu my second language. Hindi was my third language for five years from my seventh class to 10th class.



After a one year preparatory course in Russian language I completed my engineering graduation+ Post graduation in Russian medium in PFUR, Moscow in five years. I was elected and served as education secretary for Indian Students Association at the university. I was also the Chess team Captain for two years. During this period along with an M.S. Degree in Oil and Gas Exploration and Exploitation Engineering - Applied Geology, I was awarded Diploma in Translation from Russian to English and a Certificate of Teacher of Russian language as a foreign language. Here Russian was my main communication medium at the university and outside while we communicated in Russian, Hindi, Telugu and English at the hostel for the 6 years of study period. Here I also got my Technical knowledge in many subjects.

Work Experience and Acquired Skills


During subsequent seven years, I stayed back to work for various MNCs In Moscow and St. Petersburg and held different positions as varying as Company representative, Sales Manager, Branch Manager, CEO. I further honed my technical skills while dealing with exports of metal, machinery, spare parts, ships for scrapping, Oil and Gas, fertilizer and chemicals and import of multitude of FMCG. My knowledge in import and export regulations, shipping terms, banking terms and drafting international contracts was built up during this period. Russian was my main communication medium while English became my mode of communication with MNC officials while Hindi remained a major communication channel with my peers. We spoke Telugu and Russian at home. During this period I acquired my leadership, management, legal and accounting skills, as I spent most of my time drafting / signing contracts, going through company charters, preparing and signing accounts statements for the Russian Tax department as well as as per the GAAP. We also designed, developed and used an accounting and inventory package in MA Access to manage inventory and accounts in one of the organisations. This was the time I really started to acquire my IT skills.



On returning to India in 1999, I dabbled a bit in software, acquired skills in RDBMS (Access, Oracle, MySQL) HTML, DHTML, JavaScript, Java, JSP, J2EE, PHP, SDLC, UML, Software design, Requirements Analysis and within two years grew to become a project manager. My main medium of communication was English and Hindi at work and Telugu at home. This was till the first IT boom lasted. Towards the end of 2000 I started working as a freelancing translator.



In 2001, on request of my juniors at PFU, who were working as translators at various agencies and who were finding it difficult to continue as most of the agencies paid little and rarely, we started IndRus Translation Bureau. As everybody agreed to keep the costs low and having their trust in me as a honest and disciplined person with knowledge to manage and run a business, we registered IRTB as a as a proprietorship with me as the Proprietor. We bagged our first defense contract in May 2001, within 3 months of establishment and I joined the others as a full-time freelance translator in November 2001. Since then there was no looking back. Today we are serving primarily, the Indian defense, pharmaceutical, power generation, Oil and Gas and software industries and then some Russian construction and telecom companies that have set up offices in India. Being an Oil and Gas Geologist, I have done a lot of my work in this area but I also specialize in Technical, IT, Pharmaceutical, legal and finance translations and interpretations as one can infer from my kudoz points at proz.
