Experience
Years of experience: 13. Registered at ProZ.com: May 2020.
Glenine Hamlyn - Certified Translator (NAATI, Australia), German into English (certification gained April 2020 but have been translating on a freelance basis for several years).
I am also an Accredited Editor with, and Professional Member of, the Institute of Professional Editors (IPEd) in Australia, and a member of the Australian Institute of Interpreters & Translators (AUSIT).
My fields of translation expertise: academic (predominantly humanities); ecology for a general audience; official documents (for Australia); international relations; theology.
Also: revising translations (German into English); editing and proofreading; writing (English).
My language career began many years ago when I was a German and English teacher in an Australian high-school. I later lived in Germany for over 20 years. There I also studied theology in German (MA in Theol.), worked as a freelance translator (German into English), trained as an editor with a major educational publisher producing English books for German schools, and worked cross-culturally in international development.
Today I combine freelance translation (German into English) with freelance editing and writing. See my website. I love the combination of discipline and creativity that working with language requires. Professionalism and good service are the keys to success, I believe.
I volunteer with Editors Queensland (EdsQ) and IPEd, and I was EdsQ web editor for several years. Further interests: relations between First Nations people and others in Australia; international affairs (special interest: the Pacific), ecology, religion, visual arts.
