Bio
I am a French to English translator specialised in research and literary translation. I translate across a variety of themes, from biography and literature to the humanities and press articles. I have worked in publishing and for publishers, researchers, and literary journals. I have also worked extensively in different bilingual settings; in administration, teaching English, and as an interpreter/guide.
What makes me confident about the quality of my work? I have studied up to a university level in both France and the UK. I have a Masters in History from the Sorbonne (Paris 1), a Bachelors in Comparative Literature, History, and Modern Languages from the Sorbonne and Glasgow University. This means that I have a keen sense for the idiom of my native language (I regularly write and translate poetry and prose - see my facebook page and my website), and that I have been rigorously trained in working with styles and referencing, especially in the UK.
Some of the people I have worked with:
- The Sorbonne University (Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne), and in particular the ConfigMed project on Early-Modern Mediterranean History (funded by the European Research Council)
- The EHESS (social sciences research institute, Paris), in particular the CETOBAC research laboratory (Turkish, Ottoman, Balkan and Central-Asian Studies)
- Sciences Po University (school of political sciences, Paris), and in particular the CERI research laboratory (International Studies)
- Univocal Publishing (publisher of translated books on the social sciences and humanities) - now belongs to the Minnesota University Press
- Les presses du réel (publisher of books on art, art history and the social sciences, Paris/Dijon)
- Norma Éditions (publisher of books on design, art and architecture, Paris)
- L’Apprimerie (publisher of digital interactive classics, Paris)
