The STEMG (Simplified Technical English Maintenance Group) announces the release of ASD-STE100 Issue 8.

Issue 8 of ASD-STE100, International Specification for the Preparation of Technical Documentation in a Controlled Language, is now available.

Issue 8 completes the global review process that started with in 2017 with Issue 7.

While Issue 7 mainly focused on a revision of the Writing Rules, the work of the Simplified Technical English Maintenance Group for Issue 8 has been dedicated to the improvement of the examples in the Dictionary.

The total number of revised words is 706 (approximately 32% of the entire dictionary entries).

The STEMG also worked on a revision of the examples. It is now easier for authors to focus on how to correctly replace unapproved words with the related approved words or with suitable different constructions.

The Writing Rules also include many new features such as color-coded examples.

For the first time, changes were driven by the users who actively took part in the general review of a Prerelease version: 140 revised words were generated by user comments and feedback.

The STE specification is available free of charge to all writers and users through the STEMG website or the ASD-STAN website.
