Source text - English Thin-layer chromatography is a chemical technique used to separate non-volatile substances. This type of chromatography is especially suitable to analyze the composition of various samples and to determine the purity of the substances contained therein. Some examples of these applications include the analysis of cermides and fatty acids, the detection of pesticides in ground or drinking water samples and the identification of medicinal plants and their constituents. Furthermore, this method can also be utilized to monitor chemical reactions, for instance when fine-tuning the BINAP synthesis from 2-napthol.
