Bio
ENGLISH:
I started working as a freelance translator 16 years ago, next to my studies. I continued translating next to my jobs after university (and translating was always a part of my jobs, too), and since 2009 I am a fulltime translator and editor.
Since February 2014 I am working as an in-house reviewer (freelance) for a big US Search Engine company: localization of websites and software (e.g. apps) and linguistic validation (feedback to translators).
From May 2013-Dec. 2014 I worked for the German site of Redbull.com: translations of articles and content management. Now I am doing apparel translations for RB.
Since 2011 I regularly translate online shops and other texts for fashion companies like The North Face, Odlo and Oakley.
For different agencies I translate and review texts mainly from the fields of marketing, PR, market research and advertising.
I am also working as a Yoga teacher, and so I translate and review texts for Yoga Journal and non-fiction books from the health and fitness sector. Recently I translated a book about Yin Yoga for Dorling Kindersley, which I really enjoyed.
From my previous jobs I have work experience in the fields of market research, public relations and publishing, I have also assigned translation jobs to freelancers – therefore I know the demands and requirements of clients first-hand, not only theoretically, and I can implement this knowledge in my translation work.
I haven’t entered a fixed price per word, because the rate depends on what kind of text I translate, how long it is, if I translate for someone on a regular basis, how much time I need to spend on layout and research, and how fast I need to do the job. Everything is negotiable!
