Using a patented air-charging mechanism, the T-Doc brand of transducers and catheters allows the air-priming of a pressure system to be convenient and repeatable for the busy clinics or in situations where the clinician is not as familiar with water priming procedures. Many users have commented that an air-system could not possibly work properly and that “everyone” using water systems knows to minimize the trapping of air bubbles in the pressure system. Air bubbles in a water system will increase the damping factor (not good) and thus a reduced pressure recording response. Air-charged systems are purely air (no water) and in this scenario, useable pressure response can be achieved with a properly tuned transducer and catheter system. It is important to note that air-charged transducers must be used with specific air-charged catheters and cannot be interchanged with water catheters.
